About

The Peterborough Phantoms NIHL 2 team is a proud part of the wider Peterborough ice hockey community, acting as the official development side for the city’s senior club. Based at the Planet Ice Arena in Bretton, Peterborough, they compete in the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL) Division 2 — one of the key grassroots tiers of British ice hockey.

Peterborough Islanders

Originally founded in 1996 as the Peterborough Islanders, the team has played a continuous role in developing local and junior talent for nearly three decades. For many years the Islanders were a staple of NIHL Division 2 (formerly English National League tiers), providing aspiring players with competitive senior hockey experience.

Peterborough Phantoms NIHL2

In 2017 the club was rebranded as Peterborough Phantoms 2 to reflect its closer affiliation with the city’s flagship National League side, the Peterborough Phantoms. This integration has strengthened the pathway for young players to progress through the ranks, bridging youth hockey and elite senior competition.

Today, the HD Teamwear Peterborough Phantoms combine local talent with experienced mentors, focusing on player development, team cohesion, and competitive success within NIHL2 South.
